Comprehensive Cancer Centers of Nevada has an exciting opportunity for a Nuclear Med Tech at our Twain site within Las Vegas, Nevada area.

SCOPE:

Under general supervision, prepares radioactive isotopes for administration to patients in accordance with physician's orders. Operates scintillation detection equipment to measure isotope concentrations and scanners to record visual representations of the isotope concentrations in specific body areas of the patient. Performs laboratory tests on body specimens. Computes results of laboratory tests. Keeps records of tests conducted, test results, and disposition of isotopes and body products containing isotopes. Supports and adheres to the US Oncology Compliance Program, to include the Code of Ethics and Business Standards.



Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prepares radioactive isotopes for administration to patients in accordance with physician's orders. Operates scintillation detection equipment to measure isotope concentrations and scanners to record visual representations of the isotope concentrations in specific body areas of the patient
  • Conducts organ or body scans on patients with radioactive. isotopes to provide diagnostic aid to physicians.
  • Administers isotope dosage and records dosage administered following established departmental procedures. Observes patient during procedures and reports unusual occurrences to appropriate personnel.
  • Performs laboratory tests on body specimens. Computes results of laboratory tests. Keeps records of tests conducted, test results, and disposition of isotopes and body products containing isotopes.
  • Offers expertise to physicians regarding appropriateness of additional/modified studies, etc. Escorts patients to treatment room.
  • Assists with dressings as necessary. Completes all paperwork necessary to ensure timely delivery of services.
  • Logs nuclear medicine procedures completed. Processes routine paperwork. Provides protection for patient and self in accordance with prescribed safety standards.
  • Ensures the safety and physical comfort of the patient while in technologist's care.
  • Conducts daily quality control measures to monitor machine performance.
  • Reports all malfunctions and/or need for adjustments to the proper company or facility. Arranges preventive maintenance as recommended by vendor.
  • Follows prescribed safety standards in operating equipment.
  • Maintains radiation detection badges and files all radiation reports.
  • Maintains adequate inventory of clinical and clerical supplies for
  • Radiology Department to ensure efficient operations. Orders, logs, and returns outside films requested from other agencies; completes appropriate documentation.
  • Arranges for the release of films to patients and outside agencies.
  • Maintains paperwork for tracking loaned films. Maintains confidentially of all information related to patients and medical staff.



Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associate degree in Radiologic Technology from an accredited school.
  • Minimum three years' experience as a Nuclear Medical Technologist.
  • Certification as a registered radiologic technologist (ARRT) required.
  • Current IV and CPR certifications required.

Lifts and carries items weighing up to 50 pounds. Lifts and pushes patients in wheelchairs/stretchers weighing up to 300 pounds and places in appropriate positions for operation of equipment. Requires ability to reach above shoulder height. Requires sitting/standing for extensive periods of time. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
