Job Description
Fiveable's Mission

Our mission is to make learning easy and fun. We know that educational inequities have left students overwhelmed and fending for themselves. In order to close the opportunity gap, we need to create space for students to be creative and curious. To do this, we've created a social network for online learning communities through interactive content and courses. Because of COVID, we're in a lightning strike moment for education and we're fired up to change the way things are for high school students.

We need folks on our team who are excited about the opportunity both from a business and social impact position. Last school year, we reached 1.4M students mostly coming from Google and we're excited to support even more students this year.

Who We're Looking For

One of Fiveable's foundational programs has been our internship program, where young people work alongside our staff within our departments, such as marketing, engineering, product, and student success. Since our product is for students, we fundamentally believe that students should be part of the process. Over the years, our internship program has taken many forms- sometimes hosting as many a 100 interns at a time. In this next stage at Fiveable, we hope to solidify and standardize our internship program across all necessary departments, and be able to support all of our interns with a professional and educational experience they will never forget! This person will help us identify what already works within our program, what would make it better, and would execute projects to make that vision a reality.

We want to talk to you if...

You believe that the student voice matters above all else. You thrive in stressful situations and feel comfortable making decisions that benefit and center the needs of the company. Building new systems, optimizing existing infrastructure, and creating cross-functional feedback loops genuinely excite you. Most importantly, you arent afraid to experiment, fail, learn from your efforts, and try again.

You are:

  • Passionate - You care deeply and pour yourself into what you do
  • Efficient - You work smarter, not harder
  • Candid - You communicate consistently and authentically
  • Flexible - You go with the flow and find new paths to your goals.
  • Empathetic - You listen with an open heart and meet people where they're at
  • A Problem-Solver - You take initiative to present solutions to problems that you encounter or notice

You have:

  • At least two years of experience working with young people in some capacity (preferably of high school age)
  • A passion for educational equity and supporting all types of students
  • Strong communicate skills that translate both synchronously and asynchronously
  • A desire to build new systems and make existing systems better
  • Specific experience in presenting or coordinating training and/or community builders for young people
  • The ability to effectively collect feedback and use it to influence decision-making
  • Experience managing others a plus!

This is a remote part time role, 20 hours a week at $30/hour. Since our interns tend to work during after school hours, we are looking to hire someone that would be available in the afternoons, and potentially some evenings as well. We will work with the right person to make a work schedule that meets the needs of everyone involved.
